The annual Finnish Telemedicine and eHealth Seminar was held in Seinäjoki

The annual Finnish Telemedicine and eHealth Conference was held in Seinäjoki 18.-19.4.2013, co-hosted by South Ostrobothnia Health Technology Development Centre and South Ostrobothnia Health Care District.

Over 100 Finnish and foreign telemedicine experts gathered to discuss the ongoing eHealth issues and latest developments. Several interesting presentations were heard. Minister of Health and Social Services, Paula Risikko, spoke about the future challenges of health and social services. In her speech, she underlined the importance and possibilities of health technologies in answering the challenges of an ageing population.

EPTEK’s executive director Sami Perälä presented PrimCareIT project’s results to the expert group, discussing the possibilities of telemedicine in preventing brain drain in remote primary care. Project coordinator Minna Viitanen and technology specialist Tomi Tupiini hosted the “TUPA showroom” in Mediwest, presenting various health technology devices and assisted living solutions which are being tested e.g. in the ongoing TUPA project.
