Code of caring

Timetable: 01.01.2014-28.02.2017

“Code of caring” project supports life control of children and youth who are at risk of social exclusion. The project aim is to develop a structure and information delivery system for supporting the children and youth with early interventions in order to prevent social exclusion. The project is led by South Ostrobothnia Health Care District and coordinated from South Ostrobothnia Health Technology Development Centre.

Project activities:

The Code of caring project aims at developing a system for supporting children and youth at risk of becoming socially excluded. When a public officer or a third sector worker gets worried of the wellbeing of a child or youngster, s/he can record an observation, i.e. create a code, to the information system which is developed within the project. Child or youngster can also express their own worry in situations where speaking aloud is difficult, or there is no one listening.

Information delivery system enables a public officer to see if others have set up a code for the same child/youngster. When several codes have been created, process for helping the concerned person is immediately taken forward depending on the particular situation and needs.

The process is developed and implemented during the two year project in the regions of Western and Inland Finland Regional state administrative agency. The project is funded by TEKES (the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation) and South Ostrobothnia Health Care District.

Partners:

Co-operative partners in the project are Western and Inland Finland Regional state administrative agency (LSSAVI), South Ostrobothnia Health Technology Development Centre (EPTEK), City of Seinäjoki, UpCode Ltd, Police of Ostrobothnia, The Finnish Defense Forces and third sector organisations.
