eHealth for Regions

The eHealth for Regions network facilitates transnational cooperation on health in the Baltic Sea Region. eHealth is a core facilitator for cooperation between the international partners and an important cornerstone in the European strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

The eHealth for Regions network brings telemedicine experts from several health and IT-branches together in order to establish new ways in cross-border healthcare in the Baltic Sea Region. The network wants

  • to increase awareness and acceptance of eHealth by citizens, medical professionals and further stakehorders in the regions.
  • to compare and benchmark the eHealth performance in the regions transnationally.
  • to connect complementary expertise and knowledge for better quality of health care services for the citizens.
  • to jointly use medical, technological and educational resources and capacities for better costefficiency in the regions.
  • to improve the availability and accessibility of health care services.
  • to foster mutual access to regional health care markets.

In the future the eHealth for Regions network will develop new projects to implement the European eHealth strategy in the Baltic Sea Region.

The network is already established as an expert group in the Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being.

EPTEK has been in the eHealth for Regions network since 2007.
